The Perfect Dress

By Ember

It was mid April, a cool spring breeze blew through the trees, bringing with it the scent of incoming rain, cutting under the scent of the city, bringing a freshness the usually stale, fume-filled air that could soothe even the most stressed of people. The sun shone softly between the clouds, illuminating everything in a pale, muted gray, dull, yet beautiful. Nex had some errands to run this morning, go to the office, grab some papers she had forgotten the night before, then head down to the phone shop to pick up a replacement for her current one that had met an untimely demise in the washing machine, and pick up a dress for the party she was going to this evening.

She had just handed her old phone to the clerk, a Persian cat, and he was working on moving the card over to the new phone, the newest flagship Linux phone, as Nex had decided to avoid using Tomato Technologies devices after her last had nearly burst into flames from charging too long. Nex stared out the windows at a small grouping of clouds lazily drifting along in front of a large cloud that was deeply dark, "Cumulonimbus" she muttered to herself.

"I'm sorry?" The clerk said, still prying at the tray on the phone, letting out a surprised yelp as it finally came out.

Nex shook her head, "Sorry, just admiring the clouds, is all."

The clerk nodded and placed the card in the new phone's tray, "Very well, ma'am, I'll have you out of here in just a few more minutes. Are you keeping the same number?"

Nex nods, "Yeah, I spent a while trying to get that exact one, when you type it in, it sounds like Funky Town."

The clerk lets out a soft chuckle, "Really? That must have been pretty hard to get." He clicked his mouse a few times, then typed something quickly, "Alright, your total today is three hundred even." Nex pulls her wallet out and swipes her card. The system beeps, approving the transaction. "Have an excellent day, ma'am!" The clerk says, over-excitedly.

"You too." Nex says, sliding the phone into her purse, then walking towards the final stop she had today. She crossed the street, and turned right, following the road for three blocks before reaching a store that caught her eye. She stopped and looked in, there were many dresses inside, all shiny blacks, pinks, and reds, beautifully catching the light and reflecting it.

She must have stopped for an unreasonably long time, as someone opened the shop's door and called over to Nex, "We're open, ma'am, why not come inside, maybe try one on?"

Nex's dragon half immediately took over with the proposition of potentially getting closer to the beautiful shinies, and without a second thought, she walked into the shop, not even checking the name. "I think I might!" She proclaimed excitedly.

She looked around for a few moments, smiling excitedly. The inside of the store had the strongest of smells of fresh latex, and lots of polish. "Let me know if I can help you now, okay?" The clerk suggested, returning to her post behind the counter.

Nex looked over to the dragoness behind the counter, "Actually, I'm looking for a dress for a party tonight. I'm going to that new club on Fifth and I want something nice to wear for my girlfriend, her and I have a little game where we try to outdo the other without knowing what the other has." She continued to eye all of the beautiful latex dresses.

The clerk smiled wide, teeth starting to show, "I think I might have just the thing for you, follow me." She slithered to the back room, holding the swinging door open for Nex. Nex followed excitedly, passing beside the dragoness, only coming up to her mid-belly. "Usually I stock clothing in the sizes of dragons or your average cat or fox, but you're a bit special with your size. You're part kobold, right?"

"Mmhmm!" Nex replied joyously, too excited to think about the question.

The dragoness smiles wide again, letting out a soft growl, "Perfect! Right this way!" Nex does as instructed, entering a small back room filled with boxes of different dresses, stockings, gloves, skirts, all beautiful shiny latex. "Now, where did I put that old thing?" The dragoness asks herself, shifting boxes around as Nex sniffs the air happily, smelling nothing but latex. "Ah there it is!" The dragoness says energetically, handing the box down to Nex.

Nex took the box, smaller than most of the others, and looks at the label. She notices some words are blacked out with marker, leaving the label reading;

PVC ###### Dress

Nex hugged the box with excitement. "How much?"

The dragoness smiled again, wider this time, Nex notices a tiny puff of smoke coming from the corners of her mouth, but doesn't think about it, too excited by the prospects of the new dress. "That's been on my shelves for years, it's all yours, but surely you want to make sure it fits first, right?" She suggests as she moves towards a small changing room just off of the store room.

"R... really! Free! You're too kind!" Nex excitedly clings to the box and looks at the changing room. "It is probably a good idea to try it on at least once, just to make sure it fits, right?"

The dragoness huffs, her smile growing, "Why of course, dear, you always have to try on your clothing before taking it home! If it's a little sticky, I'll powder it up for you, too, and I can even do some small adjustments if you need."

Nex walks into the changing room and sets the box down, "I really can't thank you enough for all of this! How can I ever repay you?"

The dragoness keeps smiling, holding back a laugh, "Oh, trust me, you'll find a way." She closes the door to the changing room and sounds to start to walk away, "I'll be in the front of the store if you need me."

"Ok, thanks!" Nexii squeaks, excited, opening the box. She removes the lid to reveal the pink dress, long, as shiny as polished silver, smelling of summer and fresh pooltoys, creaking softly in her hands. She hugs it tight against her chest, hearing the vinyl creak and groan and lets out a satisfied huff.

She undresses to her undergarments and slides into the dress, zipping the back right up. It fits perfectly, almost like it was made for her. She looks in the box after doing a quick twirl in front of the mirror to watch the skirt spin and notices a pair of gloves and a pair of toeless stockings. She immediately slips them all on, clipping the garters in palace to hold them all up.

She looked at herself in the mirror and nearly began to drool over the shiny vinyl she covered her scales in. She gently rubs the gloves together, then balled her handclaws and giggled at the gentile creaks the vinyl made. She didn't want to ever have to take it off, it was far too shiny and far too beautiful to sit in her closet, but she had to get ready for the club.

She reaches up to her shoulder to undo the clasp holding her glove up, but it won't budge. She sighs and tries to work on another, thinking that she's just excited and shaky; that one won't unclasp either. She tries for another, nothing. They appear to have melted shut somehow. She tries to unclip the garters, melted down. She opens the door to the changing room and begins to walk to the front of the store, hoping the clerk can help.

She makes it a few paces before realizing her tail feels like something warm is sliding down it, slowly encasing it. She looks back and screams, seeing the pink shine starting to encase her tail. The dragoness walks over to Nex and lets out a soft giggle, her devious grin engulfing her face. "What did you do to me!?" Nex screams in fear, desperately kicking at the pink on her tail, only covering her toe pads in the shine.

"I told you that you'd find a way to repay me." She leans up against the wall, happily watching Nex become encased slowly.

"Make it stop! Please!" Nex feels her arms start to get covered, and her legs, everywhere touching the vinyl being encased fast.

"I can't, and even if I could, you're going to be too cute a toy." She watches intently as Nex's tail is fully engulfed, and a valve forms on it a few inches from the base.

Nex screams again as the vinyl starts to move up her neck. "T... toy!" She claws at her neck, and feels her claws squish, seeming to have replaced the hard material for soft, squishy inflated vinyl.

"Yep, and don't expect to ever be turned back. I'll take good care of you, though!" The dragoness stands over Nex as a valve forms on her belly button. "You'll be my cute little inflatable Kagon, a dream toy to complete my collection!"

Nex squirms as her limbs start to stiffen, no longer having the ability to move on their own as they fill with air and turn to vinyl. She feels the vinyl start to wrap around her snout, trying to pull it together. "You're... craz..." Before she could finish, the vinyl pulled her mouth together, sealing it, replacing it with a saw-tooth-lipped smile. Nex just stared on, unable to fight it at all at this point, muted, unable to move, and definitely unable to get it off.

"You're crazy adorable. You're going to be the centerpiece of my collection from now on!" The dragoness watches with seemingly boundless pleasure as the vinyl finally makes it up around Nex's horns, ears, and eyes, generating painted-on happy-looking eyes to pair with the smile, and generating a simplified copy of her scale patterning, leaving her looking almost how she did before she wore the dress, but softer.

The dragoness picks Nex up off the floor and gives her a tight hug, causing her to creak loud. "Oh, you came out so good! And that little dress suits you so well! I know right where you're going!" She walks to the front of the store and places Nex beside her seat at the counter and pats her head twice. "Good toy, now enjoy your view of the city!"

Nex seemed to float around in her mind, well, what was left of it. It felt a little empty to her, almost like it was caught in the clouds, or full of hot air, but she could still see the street through the window, watch the denizens of the city walk by, one by one, but one was special. Later that evening, Nex recognized a face looking through the window just as she had been earlier. She couldn't place who it was at first, but after the pressure to remember who it was got to her, she realized who it was.

The dragoness went to the door and held it open, saying something to her, and she walked in slowly, excitedly. The dragoness returned to the counter, and Nex heard her girlfriend's voice through the shop, "I'm actually looking for a dress to impress my girlfriend, her and I have a little game where we try to one-up the other's dress without seeing the dress."

The dragoness vanished from Nex's view and said happily, "Right this way, I think I might have just the thing for you, follow me."
